More than 100 agents with distressed-property designations aid struggling homeowners

Area foreclosures broke a record for the second straight year in 2008. In an effort to let homeowners to know that they’re not alone in the battle to keep their homes, RE/MAX Properties is emphasizing reaching out to struggling homeowners in 2009.

“There are statistics that 30-40 percent of people who go into foreclosure never list their house, never contact an agent. They just go into hibernation and they’re embarrassed and depressed,” says Joe Clement, a broker/owner at RE/MAX Properties, which includes four local offices and more than 250 associates.

But what those hibernating homeowners don’t know is that more than 100 of the firm’s agents now boast Certified Distressed Property Expert designations, and are trained to mitigate and prevent real estate distress.
