In addition to being an ideal way to serve others and our country, employment in the military sector has several important, tangible benefits in today’s economic and political climate: immediate growth and guaranteed stability.
As part of the Grow the Army initiative, Evans Army Hospital at Fort Carson wants to broadcast the message that those personal and professional benefits aren’t reserved for military personnel. In fact, Evans is seeking a wide range of civilians from across the health-care industry to fill hundreds of open, available positions in their state-of-the-art hospital system.
“With the Grow the Army initiative, we were able to increase our TDA (Table of Distribution and Allowance) by 283 positions,” explains Lauri Barteau with recruitment and retention at Evans Army Hospital. “With the growth of the Fort Hood transition to Fort Carson, this huge surge of military personnel is how the Army is giving us more people for support.”
As part of a revamped and expanded human-resource team, Barteau is charged with filling a large demand for new employees relatively quickly, employees from almost every line of work within the health-care framework. A partial list of current openings includes everything from chiropractors, dental hygienists, and occupational and physical therapists to EMTs, front desk clerks, medical billing specialists and administrative professionals.
